A Message from the President

The speaker in a recent webinar I attended was a pharma executive who I believe is one of the most passionate, intelligent, smart and influential leader in the industry. He is a Filipino and works in a global pharmaceutical company.

I really look up to him and I thought of sharing with all of you the highlights of his talk on COVID-19 drug development and on leadership. I think his topics on COVID-19 drug development and leadership are two important topics during our times.

The pharma industry is working together to develop therapies in the fight against COVID-19. There are three (3) main areas of development. Theses are (1) neutralizing antibodies, (2) antivirals and (3) vaccines. All of these therapies are designed to treat and prevent COVID-19 infections in various stages.

Vaccines are one of the most important therapies under development to prevent COVID-19. Several companies are in late stage clinical trials. However, many trials haAve recently been suspended in order to comprehensively review the safety profile of the various drugs. This is a normal stage in any new drug development. There are more than 10 companies globally conducting clinical trials for these therapies and hopefully some of them will be available in the second half of 2021.

He spoke about the three (3) personal traits of an effective leader. Let me share them with you.

CONNECT WITH PEOPLE - an effective leader should have integrity, authenticity and humility.

DRIVEN TO WIN - an effective leader should have (1) energy, passion & positive attitude, (2) edge and, (3) courage & resiliency

WORKMANLIKE DILIGENCE - an effective leader should be (1) disciplined, (2) intolerant of mediocrity and possess (3) learning agility & curiosity.

Each of these personal traits are important. But, I want to emphasize the importance of the third trait - Workmanlike Diligence. We all must be intolerant of mediocrity. “Hindi pwede ang pwede na”. Finally, we need to learn very fast and should be curious to try to new things. These are important for a young company like Jackpharma.

Do you have what it takes to be an effective leader?

So, there you go. I hope these thoughts I shared on COVID-19 treatment developments and leadership have provided some insights and learnings for all of you.

As we enter the last quarter of 2020, let’s continue the growing momentum of our sales and promotional activities.

Stay safe everyone, and keep up the good work.
